South East chapter of the opposition All Progressives Congress
has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of scarifying pressing national
issues to pursue his 2nd term ambition. The party also advised the Igbo
to stop backing him.
APC Tells Igbo Not To Vote For Jonathan.
This position was expressed in a statement issued in Sunday by the APC South East spokesperson, Osita Okechukwu.
The APC said that Jonathan’s hunger for re-election crystalized when he had described the opposition as a party heading to hell during the Peoples Democratic Party zonal South East rally in Enugu last week.
The APC described this comment as immature and unpresidential.
"How can a president throw caution to the winds, mount the rostrum only to cast aspersions on our great party, the APC?"
The party also said that Ndigbo – a group that represents all Igbo communities – should stop backing Jonathan saying that a vote for Jonathan in 2015 would be a wasted one.
"Even the Niger Deltans are disappointed with his poor performance since he failed in four years to complete the East-West road which cut across the length and breadth of Niger Delta."
The APC added that it would be "foolhardy to expect anything good from the same president with the same inchoate, nebulous and anti-peoples’ economic policy, bedeviled by pervasive and monumental corruption".
